There are a few methods of getting the layout and measurements to us in order for us to process your design, we will go over them in this page.
Method 1 – Video Walkthrough of Property
One of the easiest ways is for you to record a video walkthrough of the property using your phone. If you like to include measurements and increase the accuracy of the layout, you can use a measuring tape or laser measurement tool (recommended). Our designers are able to use the information from the video to create a highly accurate floor plan. This method should take no more than 15 mins for an entire house.
Step by Step:
- Using your iPhone or Android phone’s native video recording, start recording a video from the exterior of the house to give a perspective of the property’s size and style.
- Keep the camera slow & steady, and avoid shifting too quickly. It can get dizzy!
- Each room you enter, first show the entire room so we can see the size and layout, then show us every corner of the room. You can also speak into the video to let us know of things to look out for. (If you are including measurements, get the length and width of each room, and show it or speak it to the video.)
- Walk through each room of the house repeating step 3.
- Record the entire walkthrough in 1 single video for easier upload and sharing.
- Once you’re done with the walkthrough, upload the video to a free video-sharing platform, such as Youtube or Vimeo, and share the link to the video with us. (See a tutorial on how to upload the video here.)
- That’s it!
Watch the video tutorial below to see how we do it.
Method 2 – Sketch it out
You can use a piece of paper and do your best to sketch the layout of the property. With or without measurements, it’s completely up to you.
Method 3 – Floor Plan Redraw
If you have existing plans already from your purchase, or from a builder / architect, we can use those to redraw a floor plan for you.
